The American War for Independence divided families at home and across the Atlantic. At the Family and Justice in the Archives Conference held at Concordia University in Montréal, Quebec, SCOS co-director Jim Ambuske gave a talk entitled "A Family Divided: The Transnational Legal History of the Duguid Family in the Era of the American Revolution." Part of an ongoing research project, the presentation examined the experiences of the Duguid family of Aberdeen, Scotland; Baltimore, Maryland; and Quebec as they navigated the revolution and settled disputes in its wake.
