Advocate, 23 Feb. 1768. Son of Henry David and Agnes Steuart; m. Christian Fullerton; his son, Henry David, was 12th earl of Buchan. Lord Advocate 1783-4 & 1806-7; MP Haddington 1806, Dumfries 1806-7; retired 1811. Lifelong enemy of Henry Dundas.
