Son of Donald Maclean, 3rd of Brolas and Isabella Maclean; succ. to Brolas 1749; 1750 m. Una Maclean, with whom he had three daughters. 1750 chief of Clan Gillean and baronet of Morvern. 1773 visited by Dr Johnson and Boswell.
